Your API key
Bring your own key. Your agent will call your provider directly from your browser — the key never travels to us, because there's nowhere for it to go. This site is static; there is no backend.
How your key is handled
- Memory first. By default the key lives in a JavaScript variable and dies when the tab closes. Nothing is written to disk.
- Opt-in persistence. "Remember on this device" stores it in your browser's local storage — still only on your device, never sent anywhere.
- Never logged. The key is never written to the URL, never printed to the console, and displayed only as its last four characters.
- Direct calls. When your agent runs, your browser calls your provider's API directly. Build Familiar's servers never see the key — there are none.
- One tap to forget. "Forget key" wipes it from memory and storage instantly.
What's next
With your key set, your agent configuration flows into Step 2 · Guard — the guardrail gate — then the sandbox, then deploy.
